The defending champion of this Bojangles Southern 500, Hamlin is second among active drivers with two wins at the 1.366-mile track and he’s seven top 5s and 10 top 10s to proceed with it in 12 career races at the monitor. He has finished in the top 3 of the last six races at Darlington and 4 at five of the last six on that track.
The 38-year-old needs to be thrilled to make his way to South Carolina this week because he looks for his first victory of the season in addition to an automatic berth to the playoffs. However, with only 3 finishes within the top 10 in his past six races, he is not performing at his best.
